Easter Dinner
In preparation for Easter dinner, Jess bought Oliver some fancy wet food. We were hoping Ollie would be able to enjoy a special Easter dinner of his own, while we feasted on Brian's ham dinner. Brian and Jess sat down to a tasty meal of lemon and thyme green beans, "corn pudding," and Coca-Cola infused ham . . . and Cadbury Creme Eggs!

Meanwhile, little Oliver began feasting on his own holiday dish . . .

But then we heard funny noises . . . a bit like a dog barfing up his dinner! Alas, our holiday was put on hold momentarily. After cleaning up the damage, Brian (of course!) invited Ollie to sit on his lap. He was sleepy and kind of sickly at first . . .

But then he discovered a new kind of "wet food!" No, no, little puppy, that's not for you!

For the record, Oliver has never received table scraps, but he sure has mastered the poor-me-I'm-starving face.

Overboard!
It began with a quiet dinner at home. Brian cooked a tasty steak, while Jess made a red-wine risotto with peas.

Then a friendly game of Trivial Pursuit ensued. Let it be known that Brian has never single-handedly defeated Jess at this game. Only when he manages to team up with his mother-in-law, or any of our Canadian friends, does he ever win at Trivial Pursuit.
Some of you might have learned the hard way that Jess likes to enforce her own special Trivial Pursuit rules, the most outrageous and severe of them being: "spill your boat, lose your boat." According to this rule, if you are too careless—or too intoxicated!—to move your wheel full of pie (or boat, as Jess calls it) around the board without spilling your pie pieces, then you simply don't deserve those pieces at all. Thus, if you "spill your boat," you must forfeit those pieces already earned and consider them "lost at sea."
Long story short, about an hour into the game, things weren't looking good for Jess. Brian was missing only one piece of pie, and Jess was trailing by three pieces! As she's been known to do, Jess snapped and couldn't stand the competition any longer. Like a pirate in the sea of Saturday-night fun, she seized and capsized Brian's boat!!! (To see the evil deed up close, click on the evidence below!)

Central Park in Spring
By far our favorite day of Spring break was Thursday. It was the one and only sunny, warm day of the week, and we headed straight for Central Park with Oliver. We walked up 5th Avenue and admired the impressive penthouses galore. Then we found a spot on the side of a hill in the park and attempted to nap in the sun with little Ollie.
Check out Jess and Oliver camped out on the grass . . .

Ollie was bored at first . . .

but then he discovered that we remembered to bring his best friend, Corny the Cob . . .

While Oliver enjoyed himself, gnawing on Corny's husks, a visitor invaded our camp . . . Meet Spike, a WILD 10-month old bitch! (No kidding!) Who names there precious female Yorkie Spike anyway?! Look how frightened Ollie was! He jumped in Jess's lap for protection from CRAZY SPIKE!

So much for a nap in the park. We took some more pictures . . .

and headed back home on the subway . . .

The Oliver Archives
Here is some OLD footage that we somehow lost on our camera for months!
Enjoy baby Ollie when we first brought him home to Brian's parents':
Ollie's "first steps" . . . that is, when he first learned to climb stairs (Feb.):

Brian Goes National
Congratulations, baby! Brian's latest paper—on Webern's saxophone quartet, op. 20/ii—was accepted to the national Society for Music Theory conference! We'll be headed to Montreal, Quebec, in November!
Spring Break Begins
Spring break is finally here, but it got off to a rough start. The first two days of Melon's break were devoted to a music theory conference (ugh!), hosted at Hofstra University. (It's not enough that they have to schedule a theory conference during break; they have to have it where she works! You know how she loathes her commute!) The conference wasn't all bad . . . Brian presented a paper! It was well received, but I have to tell you that he spelled his own name wrong on his handout!!!! Geeez!
Hurray Monday! Break officially begins! Unfortunately Brian had class and work as usual, so Melon decided to make this her "veg" day. She slept . . . and slept . . . and ate junk food . . . and slept . . . and slept some more . . . and showered around 7pm . . . and went to bed at 8:30pm. Ahhhh . . . break!
Tuesday was slightly more productive: Melon cleaned house! This, of course, is something she LOVES to do. She even scrubbed her winter shoes clean, gathered old clothes for Goodwill, and organized the hallway closet, well . . . sort of . . .
Brian finally began his Spring break late Tuesday afternoon. We immediately made our way to the Barnes and Noble in our favorite Brooklyn neighborhood! There's nothing like a little quality "Barnesie" time to kick off a vacation . . . am I right, Moseleys?! Then we discovered a cozy little coffee/wine bar that specializes in chocolate! Yum! After shopping for groceries at our favorite corner market (SALE on vodka! woo hoo!), we headed home for a movie!
And after bawling our eyes out to "Marley and Me,"naturally, we took more pictures of you know who . . .

Here's an extra one from our walk to Prospect Park:
